Dorothy Enelma Hardin Hedrick died peacefully January 10, 2011, at the age of 97 in Tucson, Arizona. Dorothy was born on June 28, 1913, in Moline, Illinois, moved to Knoxville, Iowa and married Havard Leo Hedrick on October 30, 1932, in the Knoxville Methodist Church, a loving marriage that lasted 67 years.

After living briefly in Knoxville and Marshalltown, Iowa they settled in Ames, Iowa. They were active in the community, Collegiate Methodist Church and raised four children. Dorothy was a natural leader, participated in many service organizations, was a lay parish worker for 25 years and National Sponsor for Kappa Phi, a Christian organization dedicated to preparing university women to take leadership roles in their church and community. Her family, many friends, and faith in God kept her active and young at heart.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Havard, her parents Edward Hardin, Minnie Fink Hardin, stepmother Mildred, her brothers Oliver, Wesley, Eddie and Clifford. She is survived by a sister, Sarah Terrones, sister-in-law Connie Hardin, daughter Norma Hall (Dick Dec), sons Jerry (Karel), Roger (Yaling), Dan (Riley), twelve grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and extended family and friends around the world.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway, Tucson, AZ, on Saturday Feb. 5, 2011, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Dorothy to the Kappa Phi Club Dorothy and Havard Hedrick Endowment Fund, a 501c Charity, at P.O. Box 914, Tahlequah, OK 74465, attention National Treasurer.
