Services Held for Alleman Resident

Funeral services for John G. Fausch, life-long resident of the Alleman community, were held at the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church Wednesday afternoon of last week. Pastor F. E. Stucki had charge of the services with Rev. A. I. Kruetzmann of Hubbard, Mr. Fausch's former pastor, assisting.

Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery.

John George Fausch, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fausch, was born May 12, 1868, on a farm southeast of Polk City and passed away Mar. 31, 1947 having reached the age of 78 years, 10 months and 19 days.

He spent his childhood and grew to young manhood on the parental farm, learning early in life the lessons of thrift and honest toil and developing these sterling qualities of character which later made him highly esteemed as friend, neighbor and community citizen. He was a life-long member of the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church.

On Feb. 4, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Hitz. Together they established a new home on the farm now operated by a grandson, Myrland Fausch, where they remained until 1920, when they moved to Alleman. Seven children, three sons and four daughters were born to this union, all of whom survive the father.

Mr. Fausch was a quiet, peace-loving nature, ever ready to render a service where needed; a good neighbor and a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed good health until the last five or six years of his life when a heart ailment encroached upon his vitality. Last November he spent some time in a hospital and felt better but gradually he became worse again, in spite of the care of his devoted wife and of his family.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Fausch; three sons, Arthur of Roland, Albert of Sheldahl and Dewey of Cedar Falls; four daughters, (Selma) Mrs. Wm. Adams of Fort Dodge, (Violet) Mrs. M. Zimmerman of Grinnell, (Mildred) Mrs. Robert Graeber of Polk City and (Leora) Mrs. C. C. Alleman of Slater; one brother, David Fausch, of Ottawa, Kan.; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Lehman of Des Moies, Mrs. Rose Ringgenberg of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Lenora Weis of Des Moines and Mrs. Mae Dickinson of Williams; twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Six of his nephews were the acting pallbearers: Glenn Fausch, Chester Ringgenberg, Albert Lehman, Fred Hitz, john Abuhl and Albert Mosebach. Honorary pallbearers were: Val Accola, Nathan Acklin, J. H. T. Engelman, J. W. Krause, J. B. Fausch and Chris Enabnet.

During the funeral services the Hitz quartet, composed of Raymond, Harold and Ralph Hitz and Earl Mosebach of Sheldahl, sang two numbers, "Rock of Ages" and "It Is Well With My Soul." Kenneth Gfeller sang "The Lord's Prayer."

Among those from a distance at the funeral were: Mrs. Sam Ringgenberg and son, Chester, of Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. David Fausch of Ottawa, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Riedesel of Windom, Minn.; Rev. and Mrs. LeRoy Weis of Des Moines, Mrs. Earl Dickinson of Williams, Mrs. Anna Lehman and daughter, Verena, of Des Moines and Mrs. George Williams of St. Paul, Minn.
