SOPHIA WALD ANDERSON

Sophia Wald Anderson was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, June 4, 1859. She came to Iowa with her parents in the spring of 1865. They settled on a farm in Polk county, southwest of Cambridge, where she grew to womanhood. Her marriage to Charley Anderson took place on April 11, 1890. After a residence in Des Moines, they moved to Slater, where they had since made their home.

She had been in failing health for several years, but much worse the past year. Recently she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip. From then on she failed more rapidly, the accident having made her bedfast. She continued to fail till Wednesday evening, January 1st, when death claimed her at an age of 70 years, 6 months and 26 days.

She is survived by her husband, Charley Anderson, two brothers, S. O. Wald of Slater and Martin Wald of Cylinder, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Clarence Clark, of Slater. Also many of her relatives and a host of friends.

Relatives, neighbors and friends will remember the deceased, "Susie," as they loved to call her, as a wonderfully kind and loving woman and neighbor. She had a heart that went out to everybody and she loved to do good, and in many a home will her memory be revered because of her acts of kindness, the kind that are begotten in Christian love and live forever.
