Mrs. Anna Lehman, long-time resident of the Alleman community, passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Monday afternoon at about 5:30 o'clock. She had reached the age of 83 years, seven months and eight days.

Mrs. Lehman, who submitted to an operation for cataract of the eyes about two months ago, re-entered the hospital on Sunday, July 31, suffering from gall-bladder trouble.

Mrs. Anna Lehman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fausch, was born near Polk City on Jan. 4, 1866. In early childhood she moved with her parents to a farm near what is now Alleman where she spent the years of her childhood and youth. At the age of about 15 she was confirmed by the late Rev. Wittenwiler and was received into Salem's Reformed church as one of its first members.

On Jan. 20, 1884, she was united in marriage to Christ Lehman, whose help-mate she was for a period of 58 years, when he was taken from her by death in March, 1942.

Until four years ago she lived in the home near Alleman when she moved with her daughter, Verena, to Des Moines where she lived until the time of her death.

Her loss is mourned by five sons and five daughters: Verena, at home; Mrs. Minnie Honnold of Slater; Herman of Lowell, Wis.; Edward of St. Louis; Albert of Slater; Mrs. Selma Lowe and Alvin of Los Angeles; Mrs. Esther Hildreth of Des Moines; Mrs. Emma Hildreth of Huxley, and Ralph of Herman, Minn. Stucki, who officiated, took his text from Phil. 1:21, "For me to live is Christ and for me to die is gain." Robert Fausch sang two solos, "Wait on God and Trust Him" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Lawrence Fausch was at the organ.

The floral tributes were beautiful and there were many gifts to missions in memory of Mrs. Lehman.
