SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. O. PETERSON
Passed Away At Rochester, Minnesota, Last Saturday--Had Been Poorly For Some Time.
It was a sad message that reached Slater last Sunday morning, one that told of the death of our nearest neighbor, Mrs. Osmond Peterson, who had passed away at a hospital at Minneapolis, Minn., where she had been recently taken for treatment. She had been sickly for years, the victim of gall stones and other trouble, and at times had been critically ill and near death. In an effort to restore her to health for examination and treatment and an operation if her condition was considered good enough to withstand one.
She felt so well and her condition was so good that an operation was decided upon and it was performed on Saturday morning. It was entirely successful in every way and her condition was considered as excellent and it made all happy. While conversing with her son she complained of pain in the chest; the next moment she was dead. Her heart failed her. She lived three hours after the operation.
The remains were brough to her Slater home for the funeral services, which took place this forenoon from her late home ad the Lincoln church, of which she was a member. Burial will take place this afternoon in the Roland cemetery, she having formerly lived in Roland.
Deceased was a dear old lady, as kind and thoughtful as she could be, and she left many dear friends, friends that had learned to know her as an earnest and devout Christian. She has left a life companion as dearly beloved as was the deceased and the deep sympathy of the entire community go out to him, who at an advanced age had been left without a dear companion to help him. Deceased leaves one son, Rev. N. O. Peterson, now of Clear Lake, Iowa, where he is serving a congregation.
