Services Held for Mrs. Clara Brown

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Clara Brown at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 14 at 2 p. m. Her pastor, Rev. W. A. Adix officiated speaking on the topic, "At Rest With Jesus" based on Hebrews 4:9 as text.

Rev. Lewis Malmin of Des Moines, a long-time friend was the soloist. He sang two favorites of Mrs. Brown, "How Great Thou Art" and "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone." Mrs. Oliver Newman, organist was his accompanist.

Pallbearers were George Floden, Ray Harmer, Henry Buche, Wilbur Thornwall, Roy Cole and Ralph Pirkey.

Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born near Slater in Polk County on Oct. 31, 1891 and passed away at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Monday evening, Oct. 11 after being ill for several months.

Her parents were Torres and Martha Anderson Weeks. She attended the local public schools and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was united in marriage to Ossie Brown and continued to live in the Slater vicinity. He preceded her in death in 1949.

Immediate survivors include her two sisters, Mrs. Helen Storing of Slater and Mrs. Joe (Sadie) Travase of Huxley, and a number of nieces and nephews. Four sisters, three brothers and her parents have also preceded her in death.
