Obituary.
Huxley, Iowa, April 3:-Nels Johnson Vareberg was born near Stavanger, Norway where he grew to manhood and spent his first years as a sailor. At the age of twenty-two he was married to Gertrude Welland and settled down near Stavanger, Norway, earning a living by fishing. There was born to them eight children, five girls and three boys of whom six are still living and two have gone before him. One little girl died in her infancy. Annie, Mrs. Tom Tow, died in the year of 1897 and left two little boys who with the rest are left to mourn their grandfather's death. The rest are still living and are Jonas Johnson of Mitchell, South Dakota, Peter N. Johnson of Jewell Junction, Iowa and Mrs. Carrie Welland, of Bricelyn, Minn., John N. Johnson of Huxley, Iowa, Mrs. Isabell Tow of Slater, Iowa all of whom were present at his funeral. He also ahs twenty-six grand children. He was at the time of his death 67 years old and leaves his wife at nearly the same age, she being only six months younger. Death did not come unexpected as he has been an invalid for the last 4 years but the last seven weeks he had been very poorly, death coming to his relief at five o'clock Monday morning, March 25th, 1907 with his aged wife and two sons at his bed side at his home near Jewell Junction, Iowa where his wife still resides.
