OBITUARY

Ruth Van Gundy was born in Slater, Iowa, March 4th, 1898 and died at Slater, Iowa, July 20th, 1917, having attained an age a little over nineteen years. Ruth's illness was of a lingering nature. She was taken sick just before Christmas, 1916. In all her following sufferings she never murmured or complained but at all times had a smile and a word of cheer to all who visited her as well as for the ones who cared for her.

Ruth and Ruby, the latter her twin sister, joined the M. E. church at Slater, at the age of twelve years and both of them have been a comfort in the home and have by their Christian spirit and sunny smiles been a blessing to all. Though blest and a blessing, God came and took Ruth away from this world to her heavenly reward. Both had every care that human hands could minister, but when she was man's extremity she requested that Jesus should be her great physician, that He should minister to her in the last days of her illness and the patience and christian fortitude that only God can give was hers until the end came and she fell sweetly asleep in the arms of her Saviour and by Him born to the clime where she is now waiting and a host of relatives and friends--there in Haven where sickness, sorrow, pain and death are not known. May God grant a happy meeting in the "Sweet Bye and Bye."--(Contributed.)
