Mrs. E. B. Stewart

Juliet Emeline Miles was born in Addison, Vermont and died Saturday June 11th at Independence, Ia., aged sixty-five years and four months. She was a woman of culture and education and before her marriage to E. B. Stewart was for several years assistant principal of the Fairfax preparatory school in Vermont. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Wright, of Dolliver, Ia. and two step daughters, Mrs. Wm. McGill and Mrs. Dr. Allen, both of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Stewart died in the fall of 1899 and shortly afterward Mrs. Stewart's health failed and her mind becoming affected she was taken to the asylum at Independence for treatment. She did not fully recover from her mental state, but during the last few days of her life she was quite rational and talked intelligibly with her daughter, Mrs. Wright. The Stewart family resided for many years at Gilbert Station, where the body was taken for burial. The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Ruck at the Congregational church being largely attended. Many beautiful floral offerings attested the high esteem to which she was held by her friends.

Mrs. J. E. Stewart

Died in Independence, Iowa, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, June 11, 1904, Mrs. Juliette E Stewart, aged 65 years and five months.

Mrs. Steward was born in Addison, Vermont, Jan 8, 1839. While still young she confessed her love for her Savior and united with the Baptist church of which church she remained a consistent member until death.

The early part of her life was spent in educational fields, being assistant principal of the Preparatory Institution of Fairfax, Vt.

In 1874 she was united in marriage to E. B. Stewart. In 1882 they removed to Gilbert Station, Iowa where they made their home till the death of Mr. Stewart in 1899.

Much of the time during the past 18 years, she has been an invalid, but in sickness or health she was a constant source of inspiration, courage and patience to those around her. She was associated with her husband in business many years and proved herself a capable business woman.

In the church she was ever an active member, when health would permit, always willing to do the bidding of her Heavenly Father whatever the cost.

In the home she was a devoted wife and mother, always ready to sacrifice herself for those around her and performing with love and cheerfulness the duties which came before her. "None knew her but to love her."

The God above looks in compassion upon his children and death was only His messenger to call her from this world of sickness and pain into His glorius presence and to be with loved ones gone before.

She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Angie Allen and Mrs. Harriet McGill of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Mabel Wright of Dolliver, Iowa.
