Viola F. Baker
Jan 26, 1901, to Nov. 25, 1990

Viola F. Baker, 89, of Ames died of heart failure Sunday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

She was born Jan 26, 1901, in Milford Township to Charles and Caroline (Wicks) Boelk and married Henry E. Baker on Feb. 18, 1920, in Fernald. She moved to Ames in 1943 and was a seamstress for Younker's, Olive's and White's department stores. She was a member of Ames Bethesda Lutheran Church and the Stitch and Chatter Club.

Survivors include two sons, Charles E. of Brooklyn, and Harlan H. of Ames; one daughter, Shirly Hoerman of Cadiz, Ky., one daughter-in-law, Betty Baker of Ames; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, one son, one daughter, one brother and seven sisters.

Visitation was held Monday at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Services were held Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Les Gyllstrom officiating. Burial was in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames. A memorial fund has been established.
