THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, September 10, 2005.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Ames for Tom Jorgensen who died Sept. 7.

Thomas Jorgensen was a graduate of Stratford High School. He graduated from Simpson College in 1959 and received his master's degree from ISU.

He was a teacher, coach, athletic director and piano player.

He served on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Donor Network and was an advocate for organ donation.

Thomas received a liver transplant in 1989 and was a living donor kidney recipient in February of 2005. At his death, he was an eye donor.

Thomas will be missed by his wife of 38 years, Jane; his two daughters, Julie Jorgensen and Nate Schneider; his daughter, Becky and Tim Eberhart; his two grandsons, Henry Thomas and Frederick Daniel; his brother, Dick and Jean Jorgensen; and his sister, Mary Ann Holliday.

A visitation with the family and prayer service will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, with the prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tom Jorgensen Memorial Fund.
