ABBOTT'S MOTHER CALLED BY DEATH
Mrs. Dora Frances Abbott, mother of H. L. Abbott, director of the local band, passed away Wednesday evening, February 23 at 8:10 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Laura Barker, Des Moines. Mrs. Abbott had been in feeble health since October, 1914, when the loss of her husband deranged her mind and left her an invalid. Her son, H. L. Abbott, brought her from California last spring in hopes that the change might benefit her. For a time she seemed to get stronger though her mind did not improve and she was unable to survive a second stroke which occurred about two weeks ago. Her remains were sent to Wilmington, Indiana, where services were held from the Methodist church in which she was married.
Mrs. Abbott was born in Wilmington, Indiana, October 17, 1853. She was married to George J. Abbott in 1881, moving to Indianapolis where their only child, H. L. Abbott was born. They moved to California in 1887 and made that state their home till Mr. Abbott's death. Her death is mourned by her son, H. L. Abbott of Slater, and two sisters, Mrs. S. R. Smith of Los Angeles and Mrs. E. F. Walker of Shelbyville, Ind., and a brother, H. B. Bruce of Los Angeles.
