THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, September 2, 2005.

Helen Alberta (Anderson) Potts, 89, died of heart disease on Sept. 2 at Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with Father Terry Rassmussen presiding. Burial will follow in the Gilbert Cemetery.
Helen was born on Aug. 19, 1916, to Fred and Viola (Gasaway) Anderson in Gilbert, IA. She attended the Gilbert schools. She married Daniel Pepper in 1933. She later married Edmund Potts on May 22, 1953. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines and was a fifty-year member of the Eastern Star.
Helen was employed at the downtown Des Moines Younkers store for a number of years. She loved working in her garden and was a talented seamstress.
Her survivors include her daughter, Roberta Taft of Des Moines; granddaughter, Deborah (Ken) Curry and their children, Kevin, Kyle and Kenneth, all of Denver, Colo.; sister-in-law, Edith Anderson of Ames, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Edith (Louis) Leininger, Margaret (Web) Fairbanks, and Arlene (Ralph) Moran; and brother, Kenneth Anderson.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 4, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be directed to St. Ambrose Cathedral or Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines.
Stevens Memorial Chapel of Ames is assisting Helen's family with arrangements.
