AT OLD RESIDENT CALLED TO HIS HOME

Peter Hoel, 40 Years a Resident of Nevada Dies at Advanced Age.

Peter Hoel, for nearly forty years a resident of Nevada, passed away at his home just north of the Northwestern depot about six o'clock Wednesday evening and will be interred in the Nevada cemetery this afternoon after services at Memorial Lutheran church by Rev. J. O. Simon.

While Mr. Hoel had been a resident of the county for about two score years he had been an invalid and scarcely out of the house for fifteen years and he was little known to many, other than the older residents. He had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. D. A. Griffin, who had been his constant companion since the death of his wife about eleven years ago.

Peter Hoel was born in Hamar, Norway, February 14, 1821, died at his home in this city July 11, 1906, aged 85 years and 6 months. He was married to Amelia Altomten in 1853, to which union seven children were born, four of whom survive the patents. They are John Hoel and Mrs. D. A. Griffin, of this city, Ole Hoel, of Homestead, Penn., and Charles Hoel of San Francisco. He left Norway about forty years ago and located first at Madison, Wis., where he lived for about a year then came to Nevada. He was a carpenter by trade.

On April 30 of this year he suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which he never recovered. The deceased had many friends among the older residents of the town and the surviving children have the sympathy of all.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According the above obituary, Peter Hoel's was Amelia Altomten. Other records refer to her as Petra Amelia Seton. Perhaps "Seton" (which does not seem to be a Norwegian surname) is an Americanization of of "Altomten."
