Final Rites For Ira Dodds Tuesday At Adams Chapel

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Adams chapel in Ames with the Rev. Beckman, pastor of the Gilbert Congregational church officiating, for Ira Dodds, 68, lifetime resident of the Gilbert community who died Saturday morning at the Mary Greeley hospital, where he had been a patient since August 24. Burial was in the Gilbert cemetery.

Survivors include his widow; two granddaughters, Patricia and Jane Dodds of Webster City; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Esther Dodds of Webster City; four brothers, Bert of Clinton, Minn., George of Santa Monica, Calif., Ross of Gilbert and Harry of Ames; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Morris of Ames and Mrs. Robert Clark of Gilbert, and many nieces and nephews.

His only son, Earl, died December 12, 1934 and he was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Hunter.

Mr. Dodds was born November 27, 1879 on a farm east of Gilbert and has lived in the community all his life except for a few years spent in O'Brien county. He married Mabel Wilson in Gilbert on May 14, 1902. In addition to farming he operated a general store in partnership with his brother-in-law, Robert Clark.

The deceased was a member of the Gilbert Congregational church.
