THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Monday, August 29, 2005.

Clyde R. Dudley, 79, of Humboldt, died Friday Aug. 26, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30. Military rites will be performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5240. Burial will be in Lohrville. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Clyde Roberts Dudley was born May 28, 1926, in Adaza, Greene County, Iowa, the son of Corliss Arthur and Elsie Ruth (Warbis) Dudley. The oldest of four children, he graduated from Lohrville High School in 1943. On his 18th birthday in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Pacific Theater as an engineer on the USS Dixie and the USS Baltimore. He married Grace Luverne DeSart Jan. 6, 1946, and to this union they had one child, Suzanne Helen Dudley. He attended the Utilities Engineering Institute in Chicago, moving to Galbraith in 1951 to work for the Corn Belt Company. In 1968, he transferred to Humboldt, retiring in 1988 after working 37 years for Corn Belt. In 2000, the Dudleys made their home in Ames.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Ralph Tomlinson of Ames; one grandson, Christopher Tomlinson and his wife, Susan, of Humboldt; one brother Stan Dudley and his wife, Sherry, of Des Moines; and one sister, Lorraine Gidel of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his parents; and one brother, Corliss Glen Dudley.
