Sudden Death of Anna Mulvihill Here Last Night

Miss Anna Mulvihill, 64, resident of Nevada for the past thirty years, died suddenly last evening about 8:30 from a heart attack at her home on Seventh street.

Funeral services will be held from St. Patrick's Catholic church Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. Daniel A. Gorman in charge. Interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. The body will be returned to the home this afternoon where it will lie in state until the funeral.

Miss Mulvihill had been in her usual health through the day and had made a visit to the home of Mrs. J. R. Riddlesbarger across the street less than an hour before she was found lying partly in and out her front door, the screen of which was partly ajar.

Miss Nellie White, with whom Miss Mulvihill was to spend the night, had driven up to the home after her about 8:20 and found her face downward upon the floor and moaning as if in pain. Miss White attempted to raise her, then summoned help which came at once but she breathed her last just as they placed her upon her bed, and before the doctor arrived.

Miss Mulvihill, who was a seamstress, had lived alone for a number of years. The amount of sewing which was in process of completion in her home, the beautiful quilt almost finished, and partially completed rugs, all bore testimony to her activity and energy. Just shortly before her death she had been visited by her neighbor, Mrs. M. L. Snyder, for whom she had been sewing.

Miss Mulvihill was born in Ireland December 26, 1874, a daughter of Thomas and Ellen Mulvihill. She came with them to Story county from Illinois about 45 years ago locating with them on a farm in Richland township. About 30 years ago the family moved into Nevada, purchasing the property which has been the Mulvihill home since.

The father and mother and the brother Thomas Mulvihill all passed away here. The daughter and sister, Mrs. I. S. Burdette, passed away at Austin, Minnesota a year ago last December.

The nieces, Sadie Jess Atkinson of Waterloo and Agnes Jess Scott of Maxwell, whose mother died when they were small children, were raised in the home as daughters. Both are here today to take charge of the funeral arrangements, as are Frances Burdette-Warrington, Lee Burdette and his wife of Austin, Minn., brother-in-law of the deceased and former well-known Story county resident, is here today also.

Miss Mulvihill was a quiet, unassuming woman, kindly and helpful to her neighbors and friends, all of whom, with the relatives, are mourning her passing today.
