Rites Held at St. Patrick's Church for Anna Blink

St. Patrick's church was filled this morning by relatives and friends, gathered to attend the funeral rites for Mrs. Anna Blink, widow of the late George Blink, who died at her home at 724 Tenth street, Thursday evening.

The service, which was held at 9:00 a.m. was in charge of her pastor, Rev. Ft. Daniel E. Gorman and following the rites at the church, the funeral party drove to Rhodes, where the body was laid to rest by the side of her late husband, who died February 21, 1936.

Nephews of the deceased, who served as pallbearers, were Clarence Mesha of Ames, Roy Switzer of Boone, Joe Rhiel of Churdan, William Blink of Rhodes, Edward Welp of Haverhill and Glenn Schreiner of Correctionville.

Mrs. Blink, whose maiden name was Anna Switzer, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Switzer, pioneers of the Story City community. There she was born 73 years ago the coming June 7. She was married to George Blink of the Rhodes community April 15, 1884, at St. Peter's and Paul's church southwest of Story City by Rev. Fr. Schulte and the golden wedding was celebrated at the home in Nevada on April 15, 1934.

They first located on a farm near Melbourne, but later they moved to a farm near Rhodes, from which place they moved to Marshalltown where the family home remained until 18 years ago when they moved to Nevada. Four years after moving to Nevada they built and established themselves in a fine and commodious new home on Tenth street.

Of the seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Blink, one daughter, Rose, died about 30 years ago and at the age of 14 years. The survivors, all of whom were here for the funeral were Charles Blink of Scranton, Mary, now Mrs. W. W. Delahoyde of Dawson, Joe Blink of Wilmont, S.D., Cecelia, now Mrs. Ira Schaap of Omaha; Grace, now Mrs. Frank Bence of Bondurant, and Clarence Blink of Fort Dodge. She also leaves nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Brothers and sisters surviving are August Switzer of Boone, Mrs. John Schreiner of Correctionville, Mrs. Frank Mesha of Ames, Theodore Switzer of Texas and John Switzer of Des Moines.
