Funeral Services Held at Maxwell for Raymond Fay Beal

Funeral services for Raymond Fay Beal, 20, who died in a hospital at Ames Tuesday, April 12, were held at the Church of Christ in Maxwell Friday afternoon with a former friend, Rev. DeLoss Marken, now of Des Moines, in charge.

Burial was in the Beal family lot in the Brethren cemetery four miles south of Maxwell.

The pallbearers were selected from among the member of the class of 1936 from Milford Consolidated school, from which the young man graduated.

The services were attended by a large group of relatives and friends of the young man.

The young man had been employed in a CCC camp at Ames. He was taken ill early in the week and died in the camp hospital of an infected throat.

Raymond Fay, son of Ray and Eva Beal, was born August 10, 1917 at Maxwell, Iowa, and departed this life at Ames, April 12, 1938, at the age of 20 years, eight months and two days.

Graduated from the Milford Consolidated school of Nevada, Fay was given superior scholarship through performance on the every-pupil examination in American Literature given by the State Scholarship contest. He attended Iowa State college in 1937.

Fay's plans for some time were to be baptized on Easter Sunday in the Christian church.

His home life was quiet and his disposition was much admired and loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, one sister, Pauline Mattingly of Ames, one brother, Harvey, at home; one niece, Betty Jean, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bloomfield, and a number of uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.

Fay will be greatly missed in his home and by his friends.
