Funeral Rites for Kelley Pioneer Tuesday Afternoon

Kelley, April 18--Reinert Holland*, 76, a resident of Story county since 1868, died at his home here Saturday afternoon at 4:30 from a complication of troubles from which he had been a sufferer for some time.

Funeral rites will be held at the Bethany Lutheran church of Kelley Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 with his pastor Rev. Rorem in charge. Burial will be in the Kelley cemetery by the side of his wife who died March 11, 1936.

Mr. Holland was born in Etne, Norway, April 11, 1862, and came with his parent as a small boy, the family stopping first at Lisbon, Illinois. They came on out to Story county in 1868, where he was raised to manhood. As a young man he worked in Montana for about seven years, after which he returned to Iowa and started farming on the place that became the family homestead and where he was still living at the time of his death.

He was married to Martha Larson in 1893, she preceding him in death about 2 years. They are survived by eight children, all of whom were present at the time of the passing of the father. They are the three sons, Herman of near Kelley, Emmett of Boone and Burness at home; while the daughters are Geraldine of Parmalee, S. D., and Beuleah, Mabel, Elizabeth and Elaine at home. He also leaves 3 grandchildren and 3 sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Bertha Hendricks of Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Isabelle Hill of Huxley and Mrs. Emon Elliott of Peoria, Illinois.
