Former Collins Women Died from Accident Injuries

Collins, March 28--Mrs. Ferne Belt-Guenther, 47, of Detroit, Michigan, died Wednesday afternoon, March 23 following an auto accident, according to word received by Collins friends.Mrs. Guenther died shortly after the crash. The daughter was in a very critical condition also, and was still unconscious on Thursday.
Mrs. Guenther was a daughter of the late R. J. Belt, who was a nearly day merchant of Collins, Maxwell and Waterloo.
The daughter, Ferne, was born at Boone, September 23, 1890. The family moved from Boone to Collins and she attended school here. She graduated from the West high school at Waterloo and Iowa State Teachers college.
She was married to Walter Guenther of Boone about 25 years ago and they resided in Minneapolis. Mr. Guenther died about 15 years ago.
Besides the daughter, she is survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Anna Belt and her brother, Attorney V. L. Belt, both of 127 Lovejoy Ave., Waterloo.
The daughter for some time made her home with her uncle at Waterloo.
Word of the funeral arrangements had not been received but it was believed that burial would be at the side of the husband at Boone.
