Funeral Services Here on Sunday for A. B. Moore

Funeral rites for the late A. B. Moore, 82, former Nevada man, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Jones in Des Moines Friday, were held on Sunday afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral home here with Rev. Jos. M. Kennedy of Central Presbyterian church.

Among the friends who gathered for the service was a large group of Odd Fellows, of which order Mr. Moore had long been a member. Lodgemen served as pallbearers. Mrs. Armstrong was at the piano.

Among member of the family accompanying the funeral party were the son Darrel Moore of Chicago, the daughter Mrs. Jennie Jones, her husband, Leo Jones and their daughter Donna of Des Moines and the daughter, Mrs. Eva Wilde, husband and son Raymond of Indianola.

Mr. Moore was well-known in Nevada for many years. He came here from Jefferson in 1888 and established himself in the bakery business and his continued to be his home and business for thirty-three years, with the exception of an interval of about five years during which time the family returned to Jefferson.

It was about 18 years ago that Mr. and Mrs. Moore left here to join their children at Osceola and there the home had been since and there the wife and mother died June 20, 1937. Since the death of Mrs. Moore, he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Jones in Des Moines.

Andrew Bartholomew Moore, son of Mary E. and Walter Preston Moore, was born at Columbus, Ohio, March 26, 1856.

He was married to Millie Estella Piper at Jefferson, Ia., October 19, 1885. They came to Nevada a year or so later, reared their family here and formed many lasting associations and friendships.

He was industrious and sought always to be kind and loving. He made many friends who hold him in high esteem. A happy event in his life was the celebration of the anniversary of his golden wedding at the home of S. A. Wilde Oct. 19, 1936, when children and friends made the occasion a very happy one. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Although he began to decline in health about four years ago, he retained his kindness and love for others, always enjoying the companionship of young as well as old. His condition gradually weakened until he was confined to his bed less than a month ago, at which time his health became critical. He departed this life on Friday, March 4, 1938, aged 81 years, 11 month and 22 days at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. L. Jones.

He was the father of six children, Mary Estella, age four and Nellie Marguerite Westering, age 24, preceding him in death. He is survived by two sons, Edward Darrel Moore of Chicago, Harry Preston Moore of Ina, Illinois and two daughter, Mrs. L. L. Jones of Des Moines and Mrs. S. A. Wilde of Indianola, and twelve grandchildren.
