Funeral Services for Mrs. Amy Mead Thursday Afternoon

Story City, Feb. 2--Funeral rites for Mrs. Amy S. Mead, 78, who died at the home of her daughter Mrs. B. E. Green, here Monday night, will be held at the Grace Evangelical church here Thursday at 2:00 p. m., after which the body will be taken to Nevada, where it will be interred in the family lot, by the side of her husband, the late Asa B. Mead, who died over a score of years ago. The service will be in charge of Rev. G. L. Bergermann.

Mrs. Mead, a daughter of one of the oldest pioneer families of the county, had lived in Story City for about 17 years, making her home with her daughter and family.

She had been in failing health for some time and death was due to complications incident to old age.

Mrs. Mead, who was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Hix, pioneers of Sherman township who later located in and died in Nevada, lived for many years on a farm in the northwest part of the county, later had her residence in Zearing, then moved to Nevada where the husband died. She was born at Sycamore, Illinois.

She leaves three children, they being the one son Guy Mead of Welcome, Minn., and daughters Mrs. Charles Schuler of Welcome, Minn., and Mrs. B. E. Green of Story City.

She also leaves three brothers, W. D. Hix of Rhodes, A. D. (Bert) Hix of Zearing and C. E. His of Nevada and two sisters, Mrs. F. S. Eddy of State Center and Mrs. Arthur Saunders whose home is now in Maine.

There are also a number of grandchildren and other relatives.
