Services For Mrs. Julia Thompson Held November 23

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Thompson were held in the Bethel Lutheran Church, Story City, Friday, November 23 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Quentin G. Quanbeck officiating. Two of her favorite hymns were sung at the service, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "O Happy Home" by Mrs. Raymond Romsey and Mrs. Homer Olson. Portia Quam was organist.

Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery near Randall. Mrs. Thompson's six grandsons were pallbearers. They are: Duane Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, LeRoy Lenning, Donald Millang, Lester Fatland and Marvin Millang.

Obituary

Mrs. Julia Okland Thompson, daughter of Nels P. Okland and Julia M. Ellingson was born in Ellsworth township, Hamilton County, on April 25, 1877, and died in the Story City Sunset Home on November 21 at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 20 days.

On February 26, 1896 she was united in marriage to Iver O. Thompson. To this union 13 children were born, three of whom died in infancy; also an adopted son who died when 10 days old.

She is survived by five daughters and five sons: Mrs. Myrtle Caruth and Mrs. Alma Lenning of Story City; Mrs. Viola Jackson of Ames, Mrs. Tressie Gohman of Garibaldi, Oregon, Mrs. Margaret Donhowe of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Sherman Thompson of Ames; Raymond Thompson of Nevada; Arnie Thompson of Albert Lea, Minn. and Irven and Iver Thompson of Portland, Ore.

She is also survived by two brother, John and Halvar Okland of Story City, 35 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Iver, who died in July, 1941.

Mrs. Thompson had entered the Sunset Home six years ago at that time she transferred from Elim Lutheran Church of Randall to the Bethel Church in Story City.
