Obituary

Clyde M. Shimer

Clyde M. Shimer, 71, of Nevada, died Thursday at Story County Hospital of a heart attack.

Shimer was born October 22, 1906 in Broadland, South Dakota, the son of George and Grace McCartney Shimer. He had been a resident of Nevada for 36 years and was employed at Iowa State University in Ames.

In 1931 Shimer married Bertha F. Ingalls at Elkpoint, South Dakota. He was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church.

Shimer is survived by his wife, Bertha; mother, Mrs. Grace Williams, Boone; two sons, George M. of Corpus Christi, Texas and Roy D. of Indianola, Iowa; one daughter, Grace W. Sunnes, Hawkeye, Iowa; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Thompson of Boone; three sisters, Eva Skelton, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mabel Kester, Boone and Darlene Jorgenson, McCallsburg. Shimer was preceded in death by his father and son Merlin.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 10, at 7:30 a.m. in the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery. Rev. Cecil A. Wells will officiate. Friends may call after noon Saturday.
