THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, August 19, 2005.

Sharon Kay Quillen, 60, of rural Colo, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with the Rev. David R. Burling officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Sharon was born on Sept. 18, 1944, in St. Joseph, Mo., to John Henry and Violet Marceen (Allen) McDowell. She married Ronald E. Quillen Sr. April 27, 1985, in Colo. She was employed at Rolling Green Village and retired from Mary Greeley Medical Center in June 2005. She enjoyed picnicking, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Deanna Lynn Brown and Lisa Ann Deal, both of Colo; two sons, Garry Ramond Allen Jr. of Ames and Ronald E. Quillen Jr. of Nevada; 13 grandchildren; 2 1/2 great grandchildren; one brother, Larry McDowell of Missouri; and one sister, Patsy Williams of St. Joseph, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ron, on Feb. 24, 1999; two brothers, Alan and Donald McDowell; and one sister, Audrey Lee Williams.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established.
