THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, August 19, 2005.

Mark Edward Sowers, 74, of Clarksville, Tenn., died at home Wednesday, Aug. 10. The remains were cremated and a private family remembrance will be at a future date in Iowa.

Mark Edward Sowers was born May 10, 1931, in Nevada, to Philip Allen Sowers and Harriett Louise (McCall) Sowers. He was a graduate of Ames High School. He served his country proudly for 24 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Donna Jean Hitchings Sowers; two daughters- Marcy Lynn Wheelock of Zearing and Rhonda Lee Betten of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; two sons Michael Alan Sowers of Lutz, Fla., and Joseph Randal Sowers of Tampa, Fla., one brother, Joseph McCall Sowers of Roy, Utah, and two grandchildren.
