Funeral Services Held at Collins for Harry L. Evans

Collins, Sept. 30 -- Funeral services for the late Harry L. Evans who passed away Wednesday at the Masonic sanitarium at Bettendorf, Ia., were held from the Church of Christ at Collins Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Lloyd Patton in charge.

Music for the services was furnished by a mixed quartet composted of Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson, Mrs. Geo Holmes, S. S. Stuntz and J. R. Witmer and Mrs. Hugh Fertig at the piano. The songs were "Abide With Me," "In the Garden" and "Meet Me There." Pallbearers were chosen from the Masonic lodge at Melbourne, where he had been a member for many years. They were namely E. A. Nason, Henry Butler, Walter Andrews, G. C. Calkins, H. Hesneiss and J. J. Bollenbacker.

Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery on the family lot and the Masonic burial services were conducted by the Full Moon Lodge No. 561, of Melbourne. W. H. Bollenbucker was in charge of the ritualistic work.

The deceased was the son of the late Calvin and Martha Evans and was born on a farm southeast of Collins Dec. 5, 1889. He grew to manhood in this community and was united in marriage to Miss Lavonne Patterson of Collins on June 29, 1910. To this union a son Donald was born.

The family lived for a time at Collins and then moved to Melbourne, where Mr. Evans engaged in the barber business for a number of years. Here he became a member of the Masonic Lodge and retained his membership in that lodge until his death.

He is survived by his son who lives in Chicago, one sister, Mrs. Addie Harsh of Des Moines, four brothers, Madison Evans of Pine Bluffs, Ark., Chas. Evans of Carleton, Ore., Will and Ray Evans of Collins and a large number of more distant relatives and friends.

The deceased had been a patient in the Masonic sanitarium for the past eight year and his age at the time of his passing was 51 years, 9 months and 19 days.
