TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, August 18, 2005.

Billie Marie Horn, 62, of Maxwell, died Aug. 11, 2005 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

She was born July 24, 1943 in Des Moines, the daughter of James "Jimmie" and Marjorie (Graham) Gardner. Billie attended school in Maxwell and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Horn in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1982. Billie was an I.S.O. Auditor for Hach Chemical in Ames where she had also been a welder for five years and a glass blower for 20 years. Billie was a member of the Maxwell United Methodist Church and the Maxwell VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed woodworking, knitting and sewing. She had taken many items to the Iowa State Fair and to many Craft Shows.

Billie is survived by two daughters: Theresa (Joseph) Sawitsky, of West Chester, Pa., Patricia LeeAnn Wells, of Nevada; four grandchildren: Joshua, Alek, Tricia and Dustin; her long time companion, Dennis Freland, of Maxwell; her mother: Marjorie Gardner, of Maxwell; a brother: Jody Gardner, of Maxwell; her sister: Leota Hudson, of Maxwell; and many nieces and nephews.

Her father, husband and a grandson, Sean Michael, preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held Tuesday at the Maxwell United Methodist Church with Pastor Dean Kelly officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Maxwell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Maxwell Fire Department and First Responders, and to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
