OBITUARIES

Crescy E. Ball
Dec. 26, 1890, to March 10, 1991

Crescy E. Ball, 100, died of natural causes at the Long Term Care Center in Nevada.

She was born to Ellsworth and Laura (Brown) Downing at Collins. She graduated from the Collins High School, attended Normal Training in Nevada and taught school in rural Collins Township until her marriage to Alfred Ball in 1912. Crescy and Alfred farmed in the Collins-Maxell area, and near McCallsburg and Eldora until his death in 1970.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. She celebrated her 100th birthday with family at the Long Term Care Center last December.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Binkard of Britt, Anna Laura Carlson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Doris Christian of rural Radcliffe; four sons, John of Nevada, Dale of DeWitt, Glen of Eldora and Roger of Florissant, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother George Downing of Yuma, Ariz.; and a sister, Esther Jacobsen of Collins.

Funeral services were held Monday 13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor Splett officiating. Burial was in the Collins Cemetery.
