Funeral Services, Held Saturday for Mrs. Ethel Mayo

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Mayo were held from the Seventh Day Adventist church Saturday Jan. 23 at 2:00 p.m. with Elder A. Russell Hagen assisted by Elder H. B. Davis officiating.

To songs "Beyond the Hills" and "Sunrise" were sung by Mrs. Ray Lounsberry accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Marvin Smith Jr.

The church was filled with sorrowing friends paying their last tribute of respect to the deceased.

The casket bearers were Elmer Anderson, Willis Adams, John Betts, Lawrence Johnston, Don Hornbacker and Otho kirk.

Burial was made in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Mayo daughter of Walter and Mary Elmore was born May 10, 1895 in Nevada, Iowa.

She was married July 8, 1914 to Charles Forest Mayo at the Methodist parsonage in Nevada. To this union was born two children, one son Elmore and a daughter Gwendolyn, now Mrs. Henry Larson.

The family resided in Nevada until the spring of 1926 when Mr. Mayo's work caused them to move to Ames for a short period. Later they moved back to Nevada where they made their home until the death of Mr. Mayo on July 7, 1948. At this time her mother, Mary Elmore, moved in and made her home there until her death Oct. 23, 1951. Since that time Mrs. Mayo made her home with her children.

Mrs. Mayo a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother was preceded in death by her husband and parents and leaves to mourn her passing, her son Elmore and daughter Mrs. Henry Larson, six grandchildren Michael, Susan, Kathy and Jimmie Mayo and Charles and Mary Kay Larson all of Nevada, to sisters, Mrs. Mayne Herr and Mrs. M. J. Zunich of Detroit, Michigan and one brother, Ralph Elmore of Port Huron, Michigan, also a wide circle of relatives, friends and neighbors.
