THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, August 17, 2005.

Wilfred F. "Larry" Lariviere, 82, of Story City and formerly of Ames, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Bethany Manor. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Aug. 19, at Bethany Manor Chapel with Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg.

Larry Lariviere was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Hardwick, Mass., the son of Wilfred and Irene (Beaudin) Lariviere. He married Esther Kallestad in 1947 in Chicago. He was an area manager for Iowa Electric for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served with distinction in major battles of the Pacific on the USS Pennsylvania and he survived Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Optimist Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pearl Harbor Survivor Association and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is survived by his wife, Esther of Story City, one son, Richard (Janis) of Austin, Texas, one daughter, Patricia Lariviere of Oswego, Ill., one granddaughter, Anne Elizabeth Lariviere of New York City, one grandson, John Richard Lariviere of Oswego, Ill.; and two sisters Annette Dorman of Massachusetts and Delia Thomas of Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Life in Story City.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
