Last Rites for O. C. Vangness Held At Story City

Funeral services for Oscar C. Vangness were held Thursday afternoon Dec. 24 at 1 p. m. in St. Petri Lutheran Church Chapel in Story City Rev. George C. Strum officiated.

Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang several selections accompanied by Mrs. Alfred Jacobson.

Pall bearers were Ed Charlson, Harry Henderson, Melbourne Henderson, Gerhard Erickson, Wallace Wicks and Arthur Carpenter.

Obituary

Oscar C. Vangness, son of Osmond and Anna Vangness, was born Dec. 11, 1850 in Hamilton County and died at his home on Dec. 22.

He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church.

On May 10, 1916 he was married to Cora B. Nelson. Five children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy.

Surviving are his wife and three children; Mrs. Dorothy Couch of West Des Moines, Mrs. Judith Johnson of Des Moines and Leslie Vangness of Story City.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Jake of West Concord, Minn. and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Twedt of Pequot Lakes, Minn. and Rachel Vangness of Story City.
