D. A. ALLARD DIED AT HOME OF DAUGHTER

PASSED AWAY AT 1:30 A. M. AFTER A LINGERING ILLNESS

D. A. Allard, 81, early day resident of Story county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. M. Kriner at 905 G avenue, at an early hour this morning, after a long invalidism.

The funeral services will be held at the Kriner home Thursday afternoon at 1:30, after which the body will be taken to Colo, where interment will be beside the wife who died Sept. 18, 1927 Mrs. Allard died at the family home, at Canistota, S. D., where they had lived for a number of years. The funeral will be in charge of Rev. L. E. Watson of the Nevada Methodist church.

Mr. Allard, who was born at New Hampshire, 82 years ago July 12 next, came west when a lad of 16 years and to Story county when 21 years of age. It was there that he was married to Samantha McQuillen December 2, 1871.*

They continued to make their home in Story county until 1907 when they moved to near Truro, southeast of Winterset in Madison county. There they lived until 1910 when they moved to near Canistota in South Dakota, where they continued the family home until the death of Mrs. Allard.

He leaves one son and four daughters. The son is Dan Allard Jr., who lives between Salem and Canistota, in South Dakota. The daughters are Mrs. Elta Kriner of Nevada, at whose home he had spent his declining years, Mrs. Della Allard of Grandfield, Oklahoma, Mrs. Vivian Packard of California and Mrs. Mina Glenn who had been in Nevada for some time assisting in the care of the father.

The son Dan arrived here from South Dakota Monday and will be here for the funeral, but the daughters in Oklahoma and California will be unable to be here for the service.
