Harold "Beanie" Dean Server, 74, of Ames, died Thursday, Aug. 11, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Harold "Beanie" Dean Server was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Galesville, Wis., to Peyton James and Elsie Johanna (Buchholz) Server. He married Joyce Irene Dopp Oct. 14, 1951, in Galesville, Wis.
He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1951-53 during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1957 and was a bridge design engineer at the Iowa Department of Transportation until he retired in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Server of Ames; four sons, Eric Server of Ames, Jeff (Dawn) Server and their daughters, Molly and Katie of Niwot, Colo., John (Karen) Server and their children, Bryan, Aaron and Callie of Ames, and Brad (Roxie) Server and their children, Amy, Robert and Timothy of Fayetteville, N.C.; and one sister, Marjorie Flaherty of Galesville, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Peyton.
A visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
