PASSING OF FRANK FOOTE

Interment Was In Nevada Cemetery Friday Evening.

Final services for the later Frank N. Foote, who died at his home at Winnebago, Minn., Wednesday evening were held at the grave in the Nevada cemetery Friday evening, followed by interment. The funeral party arrived at Ames at 6:30 o'clock and the body was brought here for interment.

Frank Noble Foote was born at Marshalltown Nov. 15, 1869 and died at Winnebago, Minn., May 13, 1925, after an illness of a month.

He grew to manhood at Marshalltown when 20 years of age the family moved to Rockwell City where he lived for a couple of years, after which they came to Nevada where he was married to Miss Bessie Hall, a teacher of the local schools, in 1902.

The family moved to Blue Earth, Minn., in 1913 and later to Winnebago, where he died. Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Foote, they being Carroll Hall Foote and Paul Noble Foote.

The wife and two sons, as well as his mother, Mrs. A. L. Foote, and sister, Mrs. C. E. Klump of Blue Earth and a brother, Merle W. Foote of St. Paul, are left to mourn his untimely death.

One sad feature of the occasion was the inability of the mother and sister and her family to attend the funeral or even bid a last goodbye to the loved one because of being in quarantine by a very bad case of scarlet fever in the family.

The deceased was not well all winter and spring, but did not give up his work until the first of April. The morning of his death he seemed on the final road to recovery and every one was so hopeful. He was bright and joking, scarcely any pain and all symptoms were everything the doctor wished when he made his daily call after dinner.

In the late afternoon he began coughing at intervals, each time being more severe. The doctor was called again but was in the house not more than five minutes when the end came at 8:30 p. m.

The whole community was shocked and as the word was brought to prayer meeting as the people with whom he worked, leaving many came down to the house that night. Friday morning a short service was held at the home, the real service at the church conducted by Rev. E. H. Knehans his pastor, and the songs rendered by a mixed quartett which sang so beautifully his favorite hymn "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me", "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," arranged in a special music and "Crossing the Bar."

Those accompanying the by from Winnebago to this city were the widow and sons, the brother Merle, the sister-in-law, Miss Ethel Hall of Mason City.

While a hard downpour of rain had preceded their coming it had slackened a little as the party arrived at the cemetery and they were met by a party of old time friends of this city, to pay their final tribute of respect to their friend and to extend their sympathetic greeting to the widow and sons.

The floral tributes were many and beautiful, showing in a partial measure the esteem in which Frank Foote, a clean, upright Christian Man, was held by those who knew him.

Those who attended the funeral at Winnebago were the brother M. W. Foote, wife and daughter from St. Paul, a nephew, F. A. Klump, wife and daughter of Blue Earth and sister-in-law, Miss Ethel Hall of Mason City.

Other relatives here to meet the body at the grave were and aged uncle Rev. Horace Foote and son, Fred Foote of Hazelton, cousins Harry Foote and wife of State Center and Jay Wilson and wife of Des Moines.
