LINK, MARTIN JOHN March 25 1872 - 17 June 1952

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, June 26, 1952, page 1, column 1. “MARTIN LINK FUNERAL SERVICE. Funeral services were held at the Loring church, Saturday, June 21, for Martin Link, with Rev. E. R. Walter officiating, assisted by Rev. Ira Carney of the Maxwell Christian Church. The following life sketch was prepared: Martin John Link, eldest son of George and Christena Link, was born march 24, 1872 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and departed this life at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 23 days. In the year 1873, he with his parents and sister Anna, moved to Washington township, Polk County, Iowa, where he has resided for 79 years. On July 3, 1901, he was united in marriage to Minnie Marie Cairns and to this union was born one daughter and two sons. He was preceded in death by his wife, his son Kenneth, an infant daughter and one grandson. In his youth he was baptized into the Lutheran Church ad from this faith found much peace and comfort. Those who mourn his departure are his son, Harold, daughter-in-law, Letta, three sisters, two brothers, many nieces and nephews and o host of friends. “His life work for us is ended His trials forever are o’er; While surrounded by anxious loved ones He passed to the other shore. Mrs. Alice Gooden sang, “Beyond the Sunset” and “Be Still My Soul”, accompanied by Mrs. Ina Larsen. Casket bearers were Robert Burnett, John Cairns, William Cairns, Marold Witmer, Virgil Miller and Darrell Link. Burial was in the Loring cemetery beside the church. Among those attending were Mrs. Orvill Braught of Des Moines, Roland Burnett of Sioux City, Mrs. Theodore Miller and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Miller and Ted Miller of Grimes, Mr. and Mrs. Don Quinn and son and Mrs. Minnie Keller of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Link, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Link, and Darrell Link and Marion Link and daughter of Ames” “CARD OF THANKS – To those who have been with us in our bereavement, and by kind words and kindly acts have tried to lessen our sorrow, we extend our sincere thanks. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Link.”
