Mrs. Gretten Funeral Held on Friday

Special to the Journal.
Gilbert, April 16--The funeral of Mrs. Hannah Gretten, which was held from the Congregational church Friday afternoon was attended by a large number of oldtime neighbors and friends, attending to the high regard in which she was held in the neighborhood in which she had lived for so many years. Rev. Davis conducted the services and interment was in the Gilbert cemetery.

Mrs. Gretten had been an invalid for many years but had been faithfully cared for aby her daughter, Nellie, who had given up her regular work to attend her mother during the past year or so.

Hannah E. Ruth, oldest child of Irwin and Leah Ruth, was born at Long Grove, Ill., March 14, 1845, and died April 9 1924 at Gilbert, Iowa, age 79 years and 26 days. She was married to Michael Gretten at Waukegan, Ill., June 21, 1866. They moved to Iowa in 1869 to the farm one and half miles south of Gilbert, known as the Gretten farm. Mr. Gretten passed away on May 4, 1908. She leaves the following children, Mrs. Ida M. Miller of Los Angeles, Calif., Miss Morine Gretten of Gilbert, Irwin Gretten, Gilbert, Ernest Gretten of Nevada, William Gretten of Gardina, Calif., Melburn Gretten of Gilbert, Miss Nellie Gretten of Gilbert, Harold Gretten of Gilbert, Linus Gretten of Kincaid, Kan. and Wayne Gretten of Gilbert besides three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. L. L. Oliver of Gilbert, Mrs. F. M. Palmer of Arapahoe, Nebr. and Wm. Ruth of Salem, Oregon.

She came into the Congregational church of Gilbert during the pastorate of F. J. Douglas, June 5, 1892.
