Isabelle West is dead at age 81; services Tuesday

Mrs. Isabelle G. West, 81, of Story City died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 12 at 8:45 p.m. Friday, January 12 at 8:45 p.m. She had been a patient there since October 18, 1967.

Born on a farm west of Story City on October 10, 1886 her parents were John and Jeanette Sansgaard. She lived on a farm west of Story City most of her life. Her husband, Joseph Wes, preceded her in death in 1964.

Survivors include her two sons and two daughters: Floyd West and Mrs. Virgil Bickelhaupt, both of Story City and Alfred West an Mrs. Milford Handeland, both of Ames; also 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Svedrop Sansgaard, Story City; Selmer Sansgaard of Coolidge, Arizona and Mrs. Jake Hoversten of Glendale, California.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16 at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Rev. Norbert Jolivette will officiate assisted by Rev. Paul S. Reque. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. The body will lie in state at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City until time of services.
