Mrs. Sherman Died at Home of Daughter at State Center
State Center, Dec. 13--Mrs. Eva Sherman, 91, one of the oldest residents of State Center, died at 6 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James P. Allison. She had been in failing health for two weeks and her death was due to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. Sherman was born Nov. 16, 1846, at Palmyra, Wis., the youngest of five children of Monroe and Evelyn MacKenzie Sherman. In 1866 she was married to Emery Sherman, who had been a army surgeon in the Civil war. They made their home at Palmyra until 1882 when Dr. Sherman sold his practice and retired for a few years.
Later Dr. Sherman resumed his practice at Independence, but he retired permanently at the age of 74 and he and his wife moved to State Center to be near their daughter. Dr. Sherman died here in 1914.
Mrs. Sherman was active in club work much of her life and was a member of many societies, having been chaplain of the P. E. O. and D. A. R. chapters here over a long period. She also was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Sherman is survived by three grandchildren and one great grand child.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
