Mrs. Young Died at Home Near Zearing

Special to the Journal:
Zearing, Jan. 14--Mrs. Augusta L. Young, born in Germany eighty-one years ago today, died at her home near Zearing at 6:00 a. m. today, from complications due to her advanced years.

When a child of five years she came with her parents William and Caroline Maronda to America, locating first in Canada. From there they came over into the states and located in Chicago. Their next move was to Iowa settling at Montour and then to Nevada where the father was employed by the Northwestern.

She was united in marriage to William F. Young at Nevada November 30, 1875 and two years later the settled on a farm just in the east edge of Zearing where they spent the past 59 years.

She leaves her husband; son William Young of Zearing, daughter Mrs. Carrie White of Waterloo, a son Fred Young of Colorado Springs, and the daughter Ruth at home. One son died in infancy.

The son is on his way from Colorado to be here for the funeral which is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 2:00 at the Evangelical church with a former pastor, Rev. J. R. Blakely now of Manley in charge. He will be assisted by Rev. R. E. Kearney, present pastor of the church.

Mrs. Young, a woman of many fine characteristics, was devoted to her church work, being charter member of the Zearing Evangelical church Roland. She was a woman of kindly and charitable disposition and was held in the very highest of esteem by all who knew her.
