OBITUARY

MRS. L. H. BECKLEY

Mrs. Delilah Beckley, widow of the late Lemuel H. Beckley an one of the old time residents of Story county, died early Tuesday morning at her home a mile west of Cambridge. She has been ill through most of the summer and all of the fall, and her death seems to have been the result of a general break-down.

Mrs. Beckley was born Delilah Stackler* in the state of Ohio*, May 26, 1835, and she died near Cambridge, Iowa, January 6, 1914, aged 78 years, 7 months and 11 days. She grew up and was married in Ohio, spending there the earlier years of her married life; but Mr. and Mrs. Beckley came to Iowa in 1865, arriving at Nevada in August of that year. They resided here for a time and then removed to the farm west of Cambridge which continued ever afterward to be their home. There they reared their large family and enjoyed a long and happy and useful life. Mr. Beckley died there in 1909 and now she has followed him. Mrs. Beckley is survived by seven of her nine children, the sons being John, David, George and Charles, and the daughters, Mesdames Alice Clauson [should be Clawson], Bertha Wiese and Effie Scott. A surviving sister is Mrs. Bechtel of Grant township. The funeral was conducted Thursday afternoon from the U. B. church of Cambridge by the former pastor, Rev. Hicks of Ogden.
