OBITUARY

OLE TESDALL

Ole Tesdall was born September 3, 1836 in Etne, Norway. In the year 1854 he came to America and for one year made his home in Candel county, Ill. In 1855 in company with a number of the first pioneers he settled in Story county. In 1862 he was married to Betsy Sheldahl and during the following summer they moved to the old homestead which has since been their home.

To this union were born twelve children, three of whom died in infancy and one son Charles died in August 1908. The remaining four boys and four girls with the mother were present at the funeral. Besides caring for their own children they have acted as parents to one boy, Burton Tesdall who was left motherless when a babe, and to Blanche Tesdall, their granddaughter who was left an orphan about four and one half years ago. There are nineteen living grand children.

The memory of Ole Tesdall will long be sacred in the community where he has spent about fifty three years and in Palestine church were he was a faithful consistent member, always interested in all that makes life a blessing to others--many expressions of love and regard come from honest sorrowing hearts. He died at his home on Friday, September 17, 1915 after an illness of eleven days.

The funeral was held at Palestine church, Monday p. m. in charge of the pastor Rev. Beuland and the remains laid to rest in the Palestine cemetery.
