OBITUARY

MRS. BEN OLSON

Mrs. Gertrude Olson, wife of Ben Olson, died Monday afternoon at the family home in the north part of the city. Her death followed what was recognized as a very serious illness and was the result of a complication of troubles including cancer.

Mrs. Olson's maiden name was Gertrude Husby, and she was born at Trondjem, Norway, March 1, 1829. She died as stated at Nevada, Iowa July 10, 1911, being at the time of her death aged 82 years, 4 months and 9 days. She grew up in the old country and was there married in 1852 to O. Jacobson, and to their union there were born two children, who are now Mrs. M. L. Borgen of Nevada and Mrs. Tom Stanerson of Estherville. Her first husband died in 1856 and she was again married this time to Mr. Olson in 1859. To this union there were born one child that died in infancy and also Ole B. Olson of Marshalltown, Martin Olson of Colo, Nettie (now Mrs. Guy Carlton) of Washta, Iowa, and Gertrude Olson of Nevada, all but the last of whom were born in Norway. In the early '70s the family emigrated to America, coming at once to Nevada, where they have resided for nearly forty years. In all these years Mrs. Olson has met well and faithfully her responsibilities as wife and mother and commanded in a noteworthy degree the love and esteem of those who came within the radius of her influence. Her death is a sad bereavement to all her family and friends.

The funeral will be conducted from the Olson home Wednesday afternoon, at which the relatives from abroad that are expected include Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stanerson of Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Carlton of Washta, Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Olson of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Olson of Colo, Mr. and Nrs. John L. Borgen of Hartland, Minnesota.
