MAXWELL
The funeral of Mrs. Charlotte Mowen was held in the church of the Brethren at Maxwell, Sunday, June 4th, at 2:30. The services were conducted by Elder E. D. Fiscel of Yale assisted by A. W. Flora. Four grandsons and two grandsons in law were pall bearers and burial was in the Brethren cemetery south of Maxwell. Mrs. Mowen was born in Maryland, November 2, 1838 and died at the Iowa Sanitarium Nevada, June 2, 1916, aged 77 years and 7 months. She was married to Emanuel Mowen November 19, 1857, at Mt. Morris, Ill., and they moved to Iowa in 1873, first settling in Polk county; but a year later they purchased the farm south of Maxwell which was their home till they moved into Maxwell where Mr. Mowen died in 1911. They are survived by their four children, the two sons, Geo. V. of Maxwell and Ira E. of Des Moines; the two daughters Mrs. Elizabeth Baldwin of Frederick, S. D. and Mrs. Mary M. Hawkins of Maxwell; also sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grand children. Mrs. Mowen was ill but a short time, was up and around until a week before her death.
