OBITUARY

MRS. JAS. C. MASON

Mrs. Jas. C. Mason, long a resident of this county an city, died at her home here early Wednesday morning after an illness of about a week with apoplexy. The stroke, which affected her right side, had from the first been regarded as exceedingly severe and probably fatal and the end came without surprise to her family and friends.

Mrs. Mason was born in LaFayette county, Wisconsin, July 18, 1842, her name being Rosalind A. Burrett [sic], and she died at Nevada, March 15, 1916, aged 73 years, 7 months and 26 days. She grew up in the place of her birth and was there married to Mr. Mason, and they came thence soon after, in 1868, to tory county, where they have spent practically all of their married life. For a considerable number of years they lived in Grant township; but for thirty years or so they had lived in Nevada, having their home in the northeast part of the city. To their union there were born eleven children; but of them all only one daughter survives, Mrs. Jessie Poole, who has had her home here with her parents in recent years. Mrs. Mason was a good and faithful woman, who bore her part and commanded esteem, and her death is very greatly regretted by friends and leaves a sad vacancy in the household. She leaves her husband, the one daughter and three grandchildren.

The funeral is conducted this afternoon from the Presbyterian church, the G. A. R. and W. R. C. participating.
