State Center Enterprise July 15, 1987

Graveside services will be held this morning (Wednesday) at Hillside Cemetery, State Center, for Loraine Hartwig, 77, of Conrad, who died Friday afternoon, June 10 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center Where she had been admitted Thursday evening. The Rev. Daniel Canion of Waterloo with officiate.

She was born October 22, 1909 at Hickory Grove near Colo the daughter of Ross E and Celia Hickman White. She graduated from the Colo High School. She was married to Alvin H. Hartwig on March 14, 1931, in Bethany, Missoui and they farmed near State Center until his death in 1958. She later moved to Oceanside, California until 1974 at which time she moved to Ladora, Iowa. She oved to Conrad in 1986. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, the State Center American Legion Auxillary Unit 122 and the Auxiliary Gold Star Mothers.

She is survived by two sons, Henry of State Center and Bill of Conrad; a daughter, Mary Herrmann of Marengo; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Richards of Jacksonville, Florida and Doris House of Colo, four aunts, Pauline Olson and Anna Lounsberry of Colo, Isabelle Bamford of Scottsdale, Arizona and Elizabeth Banks of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Corporal Ross A. Hartwig; a daughter, Kathleen Crane; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
