Verne N. Noring, 78, of Indianola died of a heart ailment Thursday (19th) at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Collins United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Mr. Noring was born in Boone County and farmed in the Collins area from 1940 until 1984, when he retired and moved to Indianola. His memberships included Fervent Masonic Lodge in Collins, Story County 4-H and Order of the Eastern Star in Colo. He had also been a member of the Story County Fair Board and past director and vice president of Federal Land Bank Association, and he had served as Story County field assesor.

Surviving are his wife, Velda; two sons, Verlyn of Indianola and Vaughn of Urbandale; a brother, William "Pete" of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Lucy Geisler of Colo; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fredregill Funeral Home in Collins, where the family will be present from 2 to 5 p.m.
