Edward Ben Tuma, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, was born July 22,1919, at Cuba, Kansas, and died February 14, 1998, at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 49t Field Arillery Battalion, stationed in the Aleutian Island, the Eastern Mandages and Southern Philippines (Liberation) Ryukyus.

He was a retired machinist from an engine manufacturing compnay. He moved to Alamogordo in 1993.

He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2209 in Nevada, Iowa, and the Area Bowling Association of Ames, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Alamogordo, New Mexico, a son, Junior Tuma of Belleville, Kansas, a daughter, Julie Whitaker of Salem, Missouri, three grandchildren, two sisters, Pauline Homolka of Wilbur, Nebraska, and Lorene Taylor, of Pierceton, Indiana, and a brother, Lee Tuma of Alamogordo, New Mexico.

The body was cremated.
Memorial services were held on March 24, 1998, in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
