OBITUARY

J. A. STRATTON

James Albert Stratton was born in Wayne county, Ohio, in 1832, was married to Mary J. Mecum, Oct. 11, 1853. Eight children were born to them six of whom are now living. Mr. and Mrs. Stratton came to Story county in 1854 and here the wife died in 1901. After seven years he married Mrs. Sybil Nickerson. For some years he had run a shop in the wood working in connection with the Gates blacksmith shop. However he became too infirm for the work and for sometime had made his home with the family of his son John south of town. On Thursday he suffered a stroke of paralysis and died that afternoon. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon from the John Stratton home. Rev. Henry conducted the services and burial was in the Nevada cemetery. Four of his children, Mrs. C. E. Campbell, Mrs. M. T. Hardesty, Albert and John Stratton have lived hear him in his age and were present at the funeral. The other two are George Stratton and Mrs. Ellis Alderman of Belle Fontaine, Wash.
